Any suggestions on ways to recreate thrown-up dust from tanks travelling at speed over desert terrain?
I've seen various interpretations (some passable, others highly realistic). I work in small scale (1/72 and 1/76),
so I guess this will be a factor when choosing a method for this effect. Of course, some modellers simply use
Photoshop to modify images of their dioramas/vignettes, but I am looking for something that will create the
impression for anyone viewing the scene as it is.
Thanks,
Paul

Have you seen this?

It's a full build with a diorama, get to about 5 minutes in for the dio part

For a higher speed, I would glue a few tiny bits (model RR ballast gravel, or smaller) to the edges of the cotton wool "dust" cloud. Whatever you use for your bits, make them the same color as the terrain. "Bits", of course, will depend on the type of desert terrain!

Now that is WAY COOL

One good reason for being in this hobby is that everything you built and finished is custom to the entire world because...you...are...unique...and special.

Yes, that's the example I often think about ... very impressive!
I need to see whether I can create a similar effect working in small-scale.
