Si, fantastic start on the booms, mate!![]()
Top notch, stuff!
Thanks Russ,

Here you go,
Nets fitted to the stbd side.
.
now on to a few final details.
The Chrysanthemum crest for the bow, an very nice resin casting in the Pontos set.

Sprayed, given a light wash, and lighter gold drybrush.

on the bow.

The nameplate fitted across the Admiral's walk.

Finally (not enamoured with the kit's multi part decal ensign and jack, at least asa tempory measure printed a couple off.) The ensign and the jack hoisted.

After a a year and Seven months Mikasa is finally commissioned.

Big thanks to all the you shipmates that followed along for this build. I have really enjoyed it, it is a really nice kit to build, and adapting the upgrade for the 1905 fit back to 1902 was interesting, and took some planning. (with build like the old six "p"s really hold true "Proper planning prevents predictably poor perfermance"
Another build in this scale on it's way, bigger too. Sorry, it is one that has been done a few times before on this site, but not for a while.
Cheers

Si,
Your Mikasa is one gorgeous piece of work - it has been a pleasure over the past months watching her come together. Well done!

Thanks you Tim,
Been glad to have you along for the ride, it has bee quite a learning curve working in the larger scale, but I have enjoyed the build.
Big empty space on in shipyard. Will be laying a new keel at the weekend, family and time allowing.

Si,
once again catching up here and coming just in time - well, a day late - to see your commissioning! Wow, 1 year, 7 months... wouldn't have guessed. Time flies. It was really fun watching you during this fine build with a really impressive showdown with your torpedo nets installed and swung outward - just great!
Congratulations to that fine and impressive build!
Cheers

Thank you Jan,
She has been a challenging build, and I have learned quite a lot along the way. The kit itself is very good, but adapting the upgrade for the 1905 fit back to 1902 was interesting to say the least, might built the 1905 fit at some point just for comparison..
I have appreciate the support along the way
Cheers

Congratulations for commissioning your masterpiece Si! It was a pleasure to follow all the small and big progresses until this elegant ship was finally finished. I hope you have a nice place to display this beauty - it really deserves it!
I also do have this ship with the same upgrade set in stash but will finish her, one day, in her 1905 livery.
Looking forward for your next choice!

Looks stunning. It is one of those builds that makes you pack up and give up or inspires you to greater things.
Would look good on display in The Docks Museum, Barrow-in-Furness, her birthplace.

Thank you Thomas,
Been glad to have had you support along the way. It is the most complex project I have done so far. I am very pleased the way she has come out.
She is still sitting in my office / workshop, by the end of my desk. I sort of like having her there. If Telford is on this year, i intend to be there, and have Mikasa with me.
The next project is another 1/200th, (got a bit hooked on the larger scale)although somewhat larger. Laid the keel over the weekend. Will start the build log within the next day or so.
Cheers

It has been a very enjoyable build, and an interesting experience adapting the 1905 upgrade to work with the 1902 fit.
Several large ones were cracked to celebrate.
As usual your comments and support were much appreciated along the way.
Not the Arizona Mate, it was while back this was done, might not have been a full build log.
Laid the keel at the weekend, will start the opening post later this evening.
