I build American ships of the line. I finished the USS Pennsylvania 4 years ago, I am now working on the USS Columbus.
I work in 1/72 scale I have TONS of photos if anyone is interested. I have the bulkheads and keel of the USS United Stated cut out and ready to construct as well

I love ships of the line but lack the skill or patience to build them properly. My dad helped me build a 1/96 USS Constitution when I was younger. He did all the rigging as he had the skill for it. I look forward to your work.

Hey Gregory, welcome to the sites. I'd really like to see your work. While I've never built a large scale sailing vessel, I've tried my hands at a couple small scale kits with limited success. But I have an interest in US naval vessels, especially pre-WWI so I'd really like to see your work.

Welcome to the site, and I hope we can figure out how to get your photos posted!!

There is, somewhere in the forums (look under the forum on photography), a couple of lengthy explanations of how to get photos posted here on MSW. The gist of it is (and forgive me if I'm being too basic), is to find a place to host your photos, copy the link to the photo, paste that link into your post, and you're done!

Let us know where you're having difficulties, and all the famous minds here on the site will try to get things figured out for you!!

back at it again. I uploaded some photos. I think I got it now. You have to click on the photo link of the poster to see them. They do not just show up in the actual post like on another site I subscribe to. So, make my day, click my link! lol! Let me know what you think? I have been busy this past spring and summer teaching Bonsai classes for my Bonsai club, and buying, styling, and other wise preparing dozens of Bonsai to begin a part time business I am starting selling finished quality bonsai locally and online. I should have many ready in the Spring of 2020. All caught up now, and so I can start on my ships again. I have planked the hull of the USS United States, and have begun laying out bulkheads for the Delaware the Germantown, and the Riatan and the Columbia. these and others were destroyed at Norfolk Harbor in 1863. 11 in all and I hope to build all of them before I die! LOL!

getting pics into the post is a little cumbersome, you have to actually enter the code yourself, it's - well it's 20th century is what it is, but it works. under each photo in your gallery they do give you the code to create these clickable thumbnails -

again, thanks for joining us. I've just recently finished reading Howard Chapelle's American Sailing Navy, and The History of American Sailing Ships. it's a subject I find fascinating.
