Good old FM broadcast radio for me at my bench. I'm in a good area that receives 3 university stations and 1 LPFM station.

And if the mood is right, I have a scanner too.

I have a lot of sound board recordings of Grateful Dead concerts from late 60's through the 80's Sometimes I slap them on as a background for modelling.

Good music, but I prefer classic rock or classical myself.

Robin: That's a great link, I like "swampy" Southern rock. thanks!

KoSprueOne: College radio stations are the best ! I volunteer at https://www.wmse.org mostly listening to new music to find naughty words that can't be played on the radio. Every now & then they let me host a show. Next one will be Southern Rock.

Charles: First show, Madison 10/25/73. Alpine Valley is 3 miles thru the cornfields to the folks house. NEVER missed a show there. Stumbling thru mosquito infested cornfields at midnight after a show was always fun (?)

If I'm not reviewing music for WMSE I have a mix set up on Pandora that I listen to while building.

A couple months ago I finally completed ripping my several hundred cd collection to my hard drive so I could convert them to lossless and put them on my DAP. Lately I've been building to AC/DC, Van Halen, U2, The Who, CCR, The White Buffalo,
Beastie's and Big Audio Dynamite.

I like movie soundtracks. Conan the Barbarian, We Were Soldiers and Zulu are my favorites. When I'm really stressed I listen to Celtic music. The pipes, strings and drums speak to my inner self. I listen to the Benedictine Monks too. I really like to listen to them with the lights out. You can't beat experiencing beauty in the dark.

Gregorian chanting can be soothing when working with photoetch
or cleaning up tracks made of separate links .....

WOW, we are old farts aren't we. The Dead are playing at Alpine in a few weeks. I was very disappointed when I saw Warren Haynes trying to fill Jerry's shoes. And I really like Warren's guitar work too. "Game time decision" if I'm going or not.

I saw a youTubewith John Mayer playing. He didn't try to emulate Jerry. He just played the daylights out of some old Dead tunes. It was pretty good but I don't think "The Dead" will ever match the fire and mystic of the Grateful Dead with Jerry. My favorite era was 60's and 70's
