I wanted to see if there is interest in keeping an on-going thread here related to Exchanging Tracks- many buy AM indy links and have spare rubber band tracks, many hate indy links and prefer the easier ones. Here's the link to the spreadsheet with offers and supplies:

Good idea,I second that.I have worked that thru the buy and sell section, but a separate thread or section would be good.

I've tossed most rubber band tracks for kits I've already built, but I know there will be more in the future. I'm in.

As a kit-basher, I like the DS tracks, which are great for adding detail to rounded objects like starship thrusters.

Interesting question, what would a set of RB tracks be worth? $2? $5? We have to get our head around this one....some folks would prefer RB tracks that fit a kit over "accurate" indys...how to figure what tracks could fit other models...
P.S. This was Bravo1102's idea that I ran on ;-)

Sounds like a good idea if you can work out the details.

I have some Indy link track I would be willing to throw in for band replacements. There's even a box of started modelkasten I couldn't get through.

Due to some eyesight issues I shy away from purchasing kits that include indy=link tracks. Having a place to purchase some RB tracks would be great for me.

I really think this is a great idea, but living over seas, the postage will probably be an issue.
As for the question of value of the different kind of tracks, I'd say it must be up to the individual seller/owner to set a price.

I gave someone here in the states a set of Tiger DS tracks for $10.00 thevapprox cost of envelope and shipping.Someone on this forum gave me a T72 commanders hatch from England no charge. One good turn deserves another,I don't need to make a profit on the tracks and I'm sure many of us have done the same.

I agree with Anthony; if I have some tracks I know I'll never use and some would like them , I'm happy to send them. If they, in turn, want to reimburse me the cost of ship, even better.

It does sound like a good idea. I have quite a few sets of extra track (mostly indi-links) that I could sell/trade. I would be more apt to not throw out the RB ones either if someone was interested in them.

If there was a lot of interest, it could be moved off of Kitmaker to it's own site...Any comments welcome!

I don't know about its own site. Pinning it in this forum would probably be sufficient to keep it at the top and make it accessible.

Ok, let's say Joe has an ICM T-28 that comes with Indy tracks, and he hates them. What are his options?

In the past I have done the opposite,I went to the buy/trade section and asked if anyone wanted to part with Panzer IV indie tracks for a reasonable price, someone answered and we negotiated thru PM.

The problem is the initial post slides down out of sight pretty quickly.

I've also tried Ebay, folks try to move them there also, but they usually ask a lot.

Hi Group,

I created a Track Exchange Spreadsheet.

We'll give it a trial period and see if it works for folks.

While not exactly what this thread is about, this is a good modeling service: "Parts Yard"

Let's start and see what happens. Looking for T51 band track as in the old Italeri Sherman or Academy Lee and M10.

Ah,for me Sherman tracks are some of the only tanks that I used the DS or one piece tracks over the indies.

Are there banded tracks that fit models that come with indy's? For example, say a Tamiya Tiger (or something like that) band that could fit the aforementioned ICM T-28? I'm thinking it would be hit or miss...

Switching between kit tracks and AM tracks is always a bit tricky with Tamiya. Since many of their kits are designed to be motorized their tracks and sprockets are frequently somewhat altered from what would be perfectly authentic. Can be very challenging to get Tamiya tracks to work with someone else's sprockets and vice versa.

BTW, I can't help with T51s, but I do have a set of DS T48s if anyone ican use them.

I have available:
Merkava I rubber bands
AFV Club Tiger I transport track indies
FV101 Scorpion rubber bands
Maquette T-34 Late indies

I need:
FV101 Scorpion indies

I have a couple RB tracks that came with an Academy Achilles kit, and I think one set is a T54E1 or E2.

I'll check and let you know if you are interested?
