I am looking for a 1/35th scale crane(the bird) for a Vietnam War diorama I am working on. Any ideas out there?

Elastolin , which I believe is a German toy company might still make them ( probably in 1/32 ) . My kids had a lot of their farm and jungle animals as well as knights and vikings. Can be found sometimes in ToysR'Us . And I'm sure I saw a review of nesting crane AM set from some model RR detail company on this site , but I can't remeber who made it or in what scale .

The "stork" in set 35009 looks a bit "crane-like." Some of the others, like in set 35016, might be suitable for your Vietnam dio.

Mantis Miniatures

The sets seem a bit "spendy," but if they're what you're looking for...

Hi Walter,

Not sure about size but you may be able to use the geese from the Tamiya live stock set with some changes to the legs and head?

Ps could you give a hint on what sort of dio you are doing?

Thanks for the suggestions gentlemen.
Mike: I had the same thought about using the stork from Mantis, and doing some mods to it. i have the other set you listed as well.
Mark: No specific diorama at this time, but was toying with the idea of a patrol passing a rice paddy, with a farmer, and the crane standing in on of the other paddies, sort of showing a quiet peaceful moment in the middle of the war.

Thanks Paul, unfortunately that is also a stork,if I need to do converting, the Mantis figure would be easier to work with since it is resin. The Schleich animals are a hard rubbery plastic that is not that easy to get detail into.
