I would like to make dioramas with trees, hedgerows, and bushes, but I'm not sure what material to use. From what I have read about it, people use stuff out of their garden, but no roots I can find look like a tree and it's too dry for moss to grow. What kinds of roots make good trees and what should I use for foliage? I've read about using "seafoam", but what exactly is this stuff and where do I get some?

Nic, you can find sea foam at model railroad shops. Here is a link to explain how to use it.

Hope it helps:-) :-)

I've baught a box of those and they look beautifull...
They are still in their box, but I'll sure find a way to use them !

If you can read french check: http://www.military-kits.com/Accueil/index.htm
It's got a great article about building trees !

The producer was selling them directly at a convention in Paris !

Just wanted to let you guys know that I finally got around to making a tree. I couldn't find seafoam anywhere, but got something similar (which didn't cost too much, either). At any rate, it looks pretty good. Thanks for the help.
If anyone has some ideas for making hedgerows, though, I'm all ears.

Hi Pen Pen
Can you post a direct link to section on tree building. Yes you´ve guessed. It might as well be in Martian as French to me. Thanks a million.

Oh the French can do other things along eating cheese and drinking Bordeaux, too! #:-)
Great looking tree recipe!

If anyone has any idea how to build the branches of a pine tree with needles and stuff, I could use some help here!!

Nic,

As one of the many i can give you this advise :

Go to your local flowershop and buy : ALCHIMELLA MOLLIS

hang it out to dry for about three weeks. Cut away the small flowers and what you have left then are small thin branches. Perfectly to create your own trees.

my two cents for today

Eric
