oh well, just tryin' to add my two won to this good speculation. whether or not china was invaded or not, we'll never know. 49 years is a lot of hindsight, 4 more years than i have been alive. sometimes, makes a man think why did this happen this way and not that way. wow, have i got that much cranial capacity to see all the "what if" variables. no, i guess not, the simplistic way is sometimes the easiest way to look at things. causes less headaches that way. oh well, someday maybe the chinese will give us the opportunity to speculate some more.

thanks arthur,
you are a prince, that is what i am on about. i know sometimes i don't take these things seriously. but i did not live through them, so i have a skewed perspective of historical events. please be patient with the way i look at things. i like model building, i respect people in uniform, BUT!!!!! i hate war(unless necessary) with a passion. too messy and too illogical. chris

pak, I agree so much with you !
I may look strange sometimes, modeling and learning about all that hardware, and in the meantime
hopping so much that it never has to be used.

Better late than never! My .02 . From what I have read on the subject of the Korean conflict, the Chinese could feild a rather large infantry contingent but had a very serious leadership problem. The Chinese officers thought no farther ahead than the immediate attack. Once a breakthrough occured, the Chinese did not know how to press the attack or deal with the situation. From some of the books I've read, it seems that after over running our positions, many Chinese men and officers would just mill around in the rear with no idea what to do next and were subsequently mopped up by our troops. I feel if the US had made the decision to cross the Yalu and hold, it could have been done. However, I do not know if we were in a position to do so from an air superiority standpoint. I would be interested in hearing from any Korean vets on this board, of your personal experiences on the line near Chosen Reservoir, for example. After all, I have only read about this in books, which may not be so accurate.
