Some time ago I acquired one of the Model Craft Headband Magnifier kits as a free gift. It looked a bit cumbersome so has been sitting in the box unused since then. However, as a result of failing eye sight and dealing with very small decals to read, I’ve been keeping an eye out for something easier to use and spotted this little alternative over on Netmerchants.
It is what it says; a plastic watchmakers eye glass with a lens in the small end. I have finally been able to read those shipping stencils I got about 18 months ago!! Designed to reduce eye strain, it is ideal for precision & miniature work, and close inspection. The eyeglass has a focal length of 90mm/3.5" and provides a magnification of 2.8x
Conclusion
Small and handy at under £2.00 it is a useful little item. Grip it in your eye or use it as a hand held tool. It might be a useful item if like me you’re eyes aren’t what they used to be, or you want to get up close and personal with the interior of a vehicle.
SUMMARY
Highs: Affordable and handy to use, taking up little space.Lows: It may not have the magnification some want.Verdict: A very useful little tool.
