Making a Scale Hose Fitting

This is a pretty easy to do project. To make your fittings, you'll need some plastic hex rod, a pin drill and what ever you use for hose; I like to use wire as it helps me in keeping the shape - you could use solder also.

(1) Drill through the hex rod, but don't cut it off yet.

(2) Taper the one end down some.

(3) Now, cut to size and...

(4) Add what you will use for a hose - then paint it.

That's it!....one hydraulic fitting.

A very nice article. I have only one big stupid question. What are hose fittings? Sorry, I'm dutch and my vocabulaire is not that wide

A feature so simple its perect! Nice one mother (Joe) Hose fittings are the connecting pipes/hoses/tubes/cables that air-supply, power, fuel, data, etc. is transfered to a moving part or to control something. In the picture below the hose fittings can be seen on my Scud launcher, that supply hydraulic air and missile ignition control to the launching arm of the launcher.

Hi, Great article here. I've been wondering how to make these items. I'm going to have to find some of this plastic hex rod and give it a try. Hopefully it will work some on the parts I want to try to 'plumb' on the Trumpeter T-34s. Thanks and take care, Sgirty
