Dave here in Waukesha.
I'm a Jeep fan. Favorite scale is 1/24 but will build 1/35 since the picking in 1/24 scale kits are slim and the after market stuff is almost none existent.

Sounds good, Dave. You'll like your new scale-- a little harder to get your fingers in the nooks and crannies, but you can fit more of them on a shelf!

What can any one tell me about the Mad City Modeler IPMS annual model contest in Cottage Grove.
Is there a date set for 2013. I don't know if I'm looking in the right places for scale model shows I have not seen any around Milwaukee in a long time. again I might be missing some thing. Thanks Dave

I'm not a member of IPMS, but I went to Cottage Grove 3 weeks ago or so. I won first prize in the aircraft diorama category for my Viet Nam OV10A in flight, and we all met Aaron Skinner from Finescale Modeler magazine.
You should try to search out the Richard Bong Chapter in your neck of the woods.

Congratulation on your win.
Missed it catch it next year. From what I've read sounded like it was held in May usually.
Hope some one will post the date here next year.

I heard this year's show was pretty good although I have not seen any pictures.
The location is not the greatest and I feel it is quite cramped.

It was very cramped-- contest entries butted right against each other crammed on the display tables.
I looked for photos too, but the IPMS Region hadn't updated their photos for 2 or 3 years.

For those that do not know, a new hobby shop has opened in Oak Creek.
It is called "Panther Hobby Supply". It is located at:
8041 S. 13th Street

Thanks for the heads up on the new hobby shop Mike.I'll have to take a run down there and check it out and as long as I'm passing close to Greenfield hobby I'll stop in there.
As long as I have a post going here on the Wis roll call I'll post a photo of my build for the Jeep campaign in case it might have been missed by some. Dave

Mike that new hobby shop in Oak Creek the panther in it's name is that as in tank.Could use a hobby shop that leans more towards military modeling like the defunct Big Bear hobby shop did.
I have a question for any one that had a relative in the 32nd Division at the end of ww2.Were the MP jeeps painted like the one I built , my build is based on the Hasegawa kit painting and marking guide.
Thanks Dave

Panther as in tank yes. He wants to be another "Big Bear" and in time I believe he will. The owners are very nice. He wants to know what we want.
Pay him a visit, I spent some $ there on my first visit and I have special orders in now.

Finely got down to Panther hobby.
Easy to find not far from the interstate.Their in store selection was a little limited but interesting, resin figures, stowage sets, PE sets.
I will definitely be visiting Panther Hobby again.

While nobody can replace the Big Bear I hope this new place in Oak Creek can come close. Choices in SE Wisconsin are a little slim. First "quiet" day I will head down and check him out. Thanks for the tip guys !

I like to do epic vignettes. Right now I am working on a Goliath tank with three figures. I just ordered a Panzer III for my next project.

Anyone going to the IPMS Nationals in Colorado next month? I thought maybe we could all meet up at some time while we are there.

When I saw the title of this thread, I had to chime in.

I was born and raised in Wauwatosa, but have been living in Sweden since 27 years... I don't get home enough, only have cousins left in Milwaukee. The rest of my family is in Phoenix, AZ.

I build mostly wheeled vehicles in 1/24 and 1/35.

Once a Cheesehead always a Cheesehead!!

(Days like today I miss living in the US, need to get some more supplies - mostly paint...)
