is there going to be a lot of kits and such for sale there? I live in West Bend, and may consider going. Do they have a website? Or specific hours? Sadly early in the day I am busy, but may make the trek if it is open later.

Is that the show that's out on the west side of Madison? If so, I went a few years ago it was sponsered by MadCity Modelers I think. It was an OK show a lot of good stuff . Not too many vendors but still dropped a wad of cash.

I just did a quick Google search of IPMS Mad City and found this:
http://madcitymodelers.blogspot.com/2011/02/mad-city-modelers-ipms-16th-annual.html

It will be in Cottage Grove, just east of Madison, getting off I-94 at N and proceeding south and east of town. Tomorrow, Saturday May 7th. It's $2 for spectators, free for fire police and military. Fees for contest entries and vendors. Registration 9-noon, Judging noon-2, awards at 3.
I will probably try to get out there too! Thanks,
Sean.

The EAA Air Venture 2011 starts on July 25-- a little more than 2 months from now. Should I post a Campaign Suggestion on Aeroscale regarding a 100-years of US Naval Aviation Campaign from July 25 to January 25, with mention of that being Oshkosh Wisconsin's EAA Air Venture 2011 theme?
I know they're clamping down on the number and length of campaigns on Aeroscale, but there aren't any yet that end in January yet. Only 3 or 4 go past December so far. If we don't get the minimum 10, or if Aeroscale's administration doesn't approve it, we can still go without an official gallery and award ribbon.
Good idea or not? Who's with me?

Count me in please. I'll have to figure out how to post photos though and what to build too. Just Naval aviation and not what will be at Oshkosh right ?

I like the air venture idea because it is wide open, however the emphasis on the naval aviation would be cool. There are a couple builds dedicated to different aspects of navial aviation already though. So, I think if it was a more broad topic like Air Venture as a whole, more people would enlist. Either way, I would more than likely be in on it.

I just got off the EAA's web site. I checked the roster of planes in their collection. There is something in it for everybody from Bi-Planes, WW II AC, early jets, Migs, civvy stuff. I was kind of surprised though, no F4 Phantoms . The collection plus special planes that are coming gives everybody a wide selection to choose from. Just brain storming............. Tom

Hi to all wisconsin builders.
i went to the show in cottage grove this weekend and had a blast.Sold a bunch of stuff and met some great guys. This was my first time attending one of these shows, but will not be my last.
The only regret that I have is that I did not bring any of my builds to display.I want to appologize to all who were expecting to see some of my work.I assure you that this will not happen again.
Thanks to all who help setup and run the show, you guys did a excellent job!!!!
I want to give out a extra Thank You to Recon( Mike R) for giving me the info about this show.

I was there at Cottage Grove on Saturday too, with two of my kids and my father-in-law. Lots of cool stuff to see, and stuff to buy at good prices (especially closer to the end of the day). I didn't buy a raffle ticket, but I saw that it was really popular. Next year I'll probably bring some entries for the contests.

Regarding a campaign, I'll go ahead and post on Aeroscale for an EAA Aircraft Campaign from July to January and see what the admins have to say and what response we get from the general membership. All aircraft (or vehicles) at EAA (past, present, and future) are open for building, right?

To quote James Franco: thug life. Count me in for sure. I just have to find something to build! If I could find some Aluminum Overcast B-17 Decals, or Panchito B-25 Decals. Or, better yet, Poberezny's P-51! Ooooh the possibilities!!!

Just so everyone who expressed interest here knows, I've started an EAA thread in the campaigns folder here .
Feel free to throw in your ideas and we'll get something going after the Air Venture.
thanks!

Here are some pics I took!!! sorry if they are not great quality, but all I had was the camera on my phone. The aerial shots were taken from a Bell-47 that My buddy and I went for a ride in. Some of the schemes were cool, sadly we missed the Viking and the midway colored Orion. But, the F-18 was painted to match the helldiver that was up there. The Air Force was completely lacking up there. Possibly due to an F-16 pilot running his aircraft off the end of the main runway, and buckling the gear. It was wierd not seeing even a C-130 or anything up there.

Hi. I'm in the Falls and starting to creep back into models after concentrating on wargame minis for years. I'd be interested in meeting up with others as time permits.

I'm here in La Crescent MN, right over the bridge from La Crosse WI. I build mainly armor, but do have some military aircraft kits in the mix as well as some figures. Is there any military modelling groups somewhere nearby that I can see about joining?
