I'm from the Hendersonville/Asheville area and I work for the Asheville Fire Department. I have just gotten back into the hobby and am seriously getting into armor kits. We have some good local hobby shops in the area but no AMPS chapter. Very interested in finding one though...

I live in Mooresville, just north of Charlotte. Hobby shops are definately found wanting around here, nothing but Hobbytown. Just good enough for paints and glue.

Scott do you know of any hobby shops other than Hanger 18? Hungates in Cary Towne Center is closing and I don't know of any other places.

I know there is a nice shop in Fuquay on Main street. Don't know the exact address, but a guy I work with says its pretty nice.
It probably a lot like Hanger 18, only a bit more toward RC than RPG. Other than that, there is Tom's Trains in South Hills mall. TTs is good for supplies and tools, but not kits at all - they are 99% rail road.

Hey Ya'll,

I'll be starting an AMPS chapter here in Fayetteville soon. It will most likely meet on the second Friday of the month at 1900 at Hayes Hobby House. This time coincides with our regular club meeting for now. I'm hoping to get enough members to get another day/time to meet. If you're interested, drop me a PM.

Hailing from th booming metropolis of Stallings (it's that little wide spot in the road between Matthews and Monroe). We have a new IPMS chapter in Monroe, supported by the Hobbytown USA in Monroe. If you are interested, give me a shout. We represent pretty much all aspects of modeling.

Matthews-Mint Hill area. Did military when I was a kid, then got heavy into cars (mainly 50's - 70's race cars) and am now wanting to try my hand at 1/35 armor - mainly something modern like the panda ATV-MRAP or even the Trumpeter 4x4 armored cab cargo truck. I just like off-road 4x4 stuff.

Jon here... live north of Raleigh in a little town called Butner. Belong to IPMS Eagle Squadron. Great location for attending contests from Richmond, VA to Columbia, SC. We meet 3rd Sunday of each month in Fuquay-Varina (between Raleigh and Fayettville).

After I posted back in'07, life took some turns, and I was back to over the road trucking, so modeling got dropped.

Now planted at home again, here in Salisbury, getting into it again.

The local chapter of the IPMS is fairly active, went to my 1st meeting, friendly bunch, various interests, but there were armor modelers.

Meets at 1:30, the first Sunday of the month, and at 7PM the 3rd Friday of the month, at the Spencer fire station.

Having a convention/contest the 17th of Oct., 2015.

Thanks for mentioning the upcoming show. I'll have to see about driving out for it.

On a side note, you, or someone in the club, need to add a posting in the "Events" section of the board with all the details.
