It's important to warn the model buying/trading community about this habitual scammer. Ken Myers of Houston Texas.

He made his presence first felt a few years ago by selling tons of very cheap kits on various AFV classified pages. It seems he acquired these illegally by ripping off a local hobby shop. He would re-sell them for cash amongst the model buying public. After good will was developed, he posted a bunch of kits, got paid and then walked off. Some legal things were done to him I believe and he seemed to keep quiet for a while.

Now he has re-started his ways, offering to trade and buy/sell kits. Mike West and David Nickels, both well-known buyers/sellers/traders in the internet modelling community have recently been ripped off by him.

Be forewarned: deal with this guy at your own risk. D Nickels says he completed about $500 worth of deals with him before getting ripped off for $100. This is the same method of operation that he scammed me. Trading well and legitimately for a while and then walking off with a considerable amount of cash.

Thanks for the warning mate. I learned my lesson after "The Bryan Gray Incident"...

Topic stickied.

I've seen his (Ken Myers') name bantered about on both Missing Lynx's Private Sellers forum and Hyper Scale's Tank Talk forum for years. I know both of those guys (David & Mike) are frequent forum visitors. It seems a shame that a couple of forum veterans fell for a Ken Myers brokered deal, especially for so much money.

Ken's name should be in the hall of infamy along with Jeff "Jonesy" Jones and more recently, Bryan Gray.

Rob,

You and I posted each other in the past about this same gentleman. He is a theif and I would add my warnings to those in this thread. He tried to rip both me and my dad off, and it was only after phone calls to the local DA that we got our money back.

yeah i had the misfortune of meeting this guy at the local ipms club a few years back, actually loaned him a book so he could finish a project. He then kept making excuses when i asked him to return it after a couple of months. Then in a casual conversation with a fellow modeler i discovered that he had offered to sell it to him.The other modeler then asked myers if he could see the book to peruse it, he then kept the book and returned it to me. KEN MYERS is well known to the Houston modelers and is banned from the local hobby shops. dont know why he isnt locked up yet seems hes been doeing this kind of stuff for quite some time, just keeps moving around and finding new suckers. SO DONT HAVE ANY DEALINGS WITH HIM!

Guys like this keep getting away with it because no one signs a complaint and/or follows up with criminal prosecution. He probably skirts between law enforcement agency jurisdictions too.
He will keep getting away with it until some one follows through with a charge to the end. Unfortunately the criminal justice system puts more burden on the vitim in these cases than it does the offender so most people just chalk it up to experince and move on.

That's the best advise as well as spreading the word about him.

According to a post on Hyperscale just a few minutes ago, he's back, now using the name Gilbert. Post also claims he is hanging around here on Armorama.

Just an FYI.

Hi, Saw your posting about that looser. If the transaction of mailing kits to him through the mail, then its mail fraud and he can and will be prosecuted. You need to talk to your local post office and they will tell you how to proceed. They have investgators that have the authority to make arrersts. Just alittle heads up to fight against the scammers out there.
Good luck
Danny
