Greetings Armor Modelers;
I do hope everyone had a great holiday season spent with family and friends and had time to rejuvenate yourself for the new calendar year, and maybe even slipped away from the gatherings for a few moments to spend time on the model bench. Well, the holidays are in the rear view mirror and lots of us are getting geared up for another year of model shows, local chapter get togethers and quality bench time. And speaking of model shows, here are a few announcements and reminders about the AMPS 2020 International Show in Camp Hill, PA, May 7-9, 2020.
Pre-registration is open. Visit the AMPS homepage (amps-armor.org) and register your entries for the show and beat the long lines and crowds at the registration tables in May. So, please take a few moments to pre-register and complete the forms for the models you intend to bring. NOTE: Print those forms and stick them right in your storage box for the models! Click the yellow highlighted sentence on the AMPS homepage to review additional, important information on pre-registration. We want to make sure your time is well spent, and these little items of attention will go a long way to helping your AMPS volunteers to keep the show flowing and more time with your friends in the vendor and model display rooms! Pre-registration ends midnight, April 30th.
Hotel reservations: The latest from our liaison with the hotel just advised, hotel rooms are going fast and when they're gone, they're gone. April 6th is the final day you can reserve a hotel and get the AMPS 2020 Show rate. Make your room reservations now before the rooms at the AMPS International show rate are gone. It's quick and easy and you can do it all on-line. Visit the AMPS homepage (amps-armor.org) to access the link for hotel reservations. Our show theme is "Last Battles;" don't let getting a hotel reservation be your Last Battle!
Volunteers for Judging: Consider volunteering to help fellow AMPS members by taking a judging shift or two. Completing 2 judging shifts gets you a free AMPS crew tee shirt complete with the AMPS 2020 show logo.
AMPS raffle: The AMPS raffle has historically been successful in helping raise cash for the organization to support shows and restoration projects. We are always looking for raffle donations to make the AMPS raffle bigger and better than last year's mountain of plastic and resin. While vendors and manufacturers have made generous to AMPS over the years, we are still looking for newer kits, aftermarket sets, reference books, figures or figure sets you may be willing to donate to the AMPS International Show raffle. If you are cleaning out your stash and are willing to part with some of those items, bring them to the show and pass them off to the King of Raffle himself, Frank Ciccarella. Reach out to Frank at firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions and provide him with a list of items you would like to donate to the raffle.
AMPS Category Sponsorships: Each year, AMPS solicits volunteers to support the various AMPS subject categories. This year is no different as we look to find sponsors who will support these various categories at the AMPS 2020 show. Individuals or AMPS chapters can support one or more categories. More information on all categories seeking sponsorship and how to donate will be forthcoming in future AMPS 2020 Show announcements.
For individuals and chapters looking to sponsor a category or "Best of" award, we will post a master list on the AMPS homepage when we are ready to begin taking sponsorships. Supporting a category or two is a great way to come together as a group of modelers and support the show. Point of contact for sponsorships is forthcoming. Stay tuned.
Till the next AMPS 2020 Show announcement, keep building!
