Asking for a friend ..... I seem to remember that the M48 used aluminium or steel road wheels. What did the Sgt York knock ups use.

M247 used steel wheels.
The M48 started off with steel wheels, the aluminium wheels came with the M60.
I don't know if some later variants of the M48 got the aluminium wheels.
The IDF swapped out the aluminium wheels on their M60's and gave them steel wheels instead since the steel wheels lasted longer in their terrain
