Ships by Class/Type: Frigates
This is for topics on modern Frigates. For the sailing variety they should still go under Sailing.

Don't worry Russell, I'll be very careful It's not like I have much choice unless I put it in a water diorama....

Found these pics of the real HMS Westminster taken by "Andrewa" on Britmodeller

Nice touch of colour with the front flag staff

Lots of nice details in those close-ups. Not sure how much I can recreate in 1/350 scale though

So from here it's going to be a 22 shades of grey build....

Starting to prepare all the little bits

The Harpoons require major surgery to fit the PE stands

But they do make a big difference. You can also see the difference between the kit 5" and the White Ensigns resin & metal replacement.

And the RIBs with Atlantic Models PE added

It's slow going but it's still going....

great to see you still working on this one Sean!

All those shades of grey look lovely and the difference between the AM 5" and the kit 5" sure stands out!

She's coming together, Sean! Those RIBs are simply, and definitely, improved with the photoetch.

Sean,

very nice work and progress!! She looks great!
All of those Veteran parts you are using really stand out, that's really a great build of yours!

Cheers,

Thanks for the comments Gents.

Jan, there are no Veteran pieces in this build. The main 5" gun is from White Ensigns (and only because it was in the box when I bought it 2nd-hand) and I added the Atlantic Models PE set. The RIBs and 25mm guns are from the kit but with AM PE added to the RIBs. It really is a lovely kit on it's own.

Hi Sean -

- of course not, sorry, I was totally off...somehow I connected the resin 4.5" main gun automatically to Veteran, and your PE improved Harpoon launcher as well...(I'm not sure if they even offer a 4.5").
You had quite some Veteran on your USS Nathan James build, and the small parts here really do look very nice as well, regardless of their origin!

Cheers,
Jan
