I want to propose a cross-site campaign that i'd like to call 'Lifesavers'. (this seemed the best place to put it to reach all the kitmaker forum groups)

The premise of the campaign is that it would celebrate the work of emergency services, medics, rescue crew and all those who work to help others.

Think air sea rescue, mash ambulance, lifeboats, mountain rescue...
Or that unusual fire fighting aircraft, a bomb disposal crew diorama, or that fire truck that's been lurking at the bottom of the stash for years!

I think this could bring together a really diverse and interesting group of builds.

Defiantly would join that campaign, with immediately 2 candidates in mind a CDF tracker or a UH-16 out of the stash, yes please but preferably at the end of the year if possible

Someone ran a Emergency Services campaign back in 2014. Didnt have much participation and I think only a few people finished
But this seams a little more open make it later in the year and I may be in

Thanks for the support thus far guys.
I did run a quick search to see if something along these lines had campaigned before but i didn't find anything.

Jan, either of those would make great and unusual kits that might struggle to find a place in another campaign.

Count me in-- I love this subject and model it often.
Sal, here's why you remember that campaign-- Campaign Gallery Sadly, you were the only one to finish!
We'll rectify that this time!

Matt Lease ran an Emergency Vehicle campaign over on AutoModeler back in 2009. We had 10 participants, but I think only HARV & I finished:

I'm up for this one depending on the time frame. I have a couple of American-LaFrance kits in the stash that I just need an excuse to build. I think running this as a cross Forum campaign is a good idea.

Hey Paul, this sounds like a good idea for a campaign. When do you plan to have it starting?

The general consensus seems to be later in the year which I'm fine with. Perhaps I could suggest an October start?? And a six month duration? What do you all think?

October or November start should be fine. As for duration, I'd say 6 months to a year only because I have to paint outside, and by April the weather is still too cold & unpredictable here in Central New York. We can still get snow in May. So, for me, October to October (or November to November) works well; but if you want to only do 6 months, then how about January through June?

Timothy, that sounds like an interesting bit of kit 😊

As far as the duration of the campaign, I've no problem with it being 12 months as long as there are enough enlisted to make it interesting for that long. Besides, it may allow some to build multiple kits if this happens to be an area of particular interest.
So, potentially October for 12 months pending approval...

Seven interested parties so far, a great start ! Time to advertise a little in the sub forums I reckon 😁

Hallo Paul,
I would be in with a Boeing Vertol Shirasagi rescue chopper! I always painted camouflage, so this will be interesting!

Hey Oliver, I have to admit I needed to Google that one but if your Starfighters are anything to go by then it should be awesome.

I would be interested in this campaign, it would give the reason to build another yellow chopper.

This really is a great idea that can literally cover every genre of model building.

I thought so
Are you interested Michael? I do believe you would bring that magic number up to 10 for a formal proposal to the deities of Kitmaker....

So we've had enough interest and I've submitted the campaign proposal.
I'm still going to try and push a bit of advertising around the various forum groups to get more on board (hopefully without annoying everyone with spam!)

Shock twist : I had been contemplating a rescue chopper of some kind but i picked up this wee bargain on ebay and it arrived today.

Thats right, i'm gonna build a boat !
My brother in law volunteers with the RNLI and my partner's Grandfather was a very well known figure around the UK coast as a lifeboat Coxswain as he often delivered boats to and trained crew at new stations. This seems very fitting and my brother in law may benefit from a nice piece to put on a shelf too.

Probably gonna split the helo off and put it in the current chopper campaign to keep me busy. ( newly returned modeler = no stash...... yet )

Greetings!

I just hopped in! I'll be building the 1/350 USS Flagstaff. She was a hydrofoil from the Vietnam Era that was loaned out to the USCG for testing. While off the Southern California coast, she actually performed a rescue of a civilian boat in distress.

I had originally intended to build her as part of the Race Mania Campaign from March 2014. I got just a bit little further than the requisite Pre-Build pics. I'll try to dig her out and show my "new" starting point. I think i got as far as the first coat of white paint and deck grey.

Best wishes!

Daniel
