We're comparing apples to oranges here- You can't compare an M4 to an M1A2 SEP, nor can you compare a Centurion to a Male or Female Mk.I. Best? I'm thinking that we'd have to break it down by era, to be totally fair and honest... Otherwise, we're just blabbing about PERSONAL FAVORITES...

So were the M4-series Shermans- they were, above all, dependable. Of what use is a broken-down vehicle?

Agreed. Let's say WWI&2, Cold War(1945-1975), and Modern.

WW1 I would say a male Mark 4 or 5
WW2 I would say a Sherman firefly. Reliability and firepower.
Korea would be the M46.
67 Arab Israeli war the Centurion.
Vietnam the M48.
73 Arab Israeli war Centurion Shot Kal
Desert Storm the M1A1
Afghanistan The M1A2 / Leopard 2A6

Its been a fun to read to find out individual favorite's. We all have our own likes for different reason's. Doesn't mean any of us are wrong.
I'll throw in the Centurion in all its variants. They kept fighting LONG past their sell by date in dozens of wars. I mean how many WWII vintage designs were still on active front line service in Desert Storm?

I believe there were Shermans still around. They may not have been involved in Desert Storm, but they were still in use. I find at least one new variant, each month.

There's plenty of T-34s still knocking about too.

Best tank ever is the Panther Tank. It make a shaky start at the battle of Kursk but proved itself to be a formidable fighting machine way ahead of every other tank of its day.

I'd like to get in on this as well. I'd say the M1 Abrams. Even though it has smaller numbers, and even with a somewhat poor-moderate crew, it is much more technologically advanced than anything else on the battlefield with the exception of the Challenger Mk.II, the Leopard II, and possibly the IDF Merkava, which are more than likely equal to the Abrams technologically.
