Hindsight being 20/20. Not on your life would that man have been fired. He may well have been given a sixth star though.

Theres so many that were decisive, Once again im sided with phantom, for the second time today

Quoted Text

Ok the greatest victory that i can think of has got to be Rouke's Drift in South Africa.
Thousands of Zulu warriors charging a handful of British troops, you only have to watch the film ZULU DAWN to feel the hairs on the back of your neck stand up !

(but it would be the film ZULU, not Zulu dawn that was the Zulu victory at Islandwana)

I think definately worthy of a mention, and just to stand up for the nation of Sparta, would be the Spartan achievement at Thermopylae pass. Although strictly no a decisive victory it was a magnificant achievement and had the Spartans not been left on a limb and reinforced as promised then that probably would have been a decisive victory.
Another decisive victory i feel is Agincourt, The English victory against the French in the 100 years war.

Martin--the fantastic movie Henry V addresses Agincourt. I enjoy that film. If you do not have closed caption may I suggest getting the play and reading along with it. The "Band of Brothers" speech is the highlight of the movie.

May I recommend you folks start a topic on the Falkland Campaign. At the time of its occurrence, it was a very influencial action. For example, the long range air strikes (duplicated against Libya and many others), the protection of the fleet from the Exocet type missiles and the effectiveness of the ground forces (SAS and Royal Marines among many others). Improvisation, the use of available shipping, the political decisions all combine to make that an impressive review. I recall only aspects of it, but we seem to have several contributors who vividly recall thge action. Try it.
