"New MSW crew-mate Marius Chescu (mariuschescu) sends us a gallery of his 100% scratchbuilt HMS Queen Mary, his first submission, in this "On Display" feature!"



The most famous british battleship from, WWI, which was unfortunately sunk in the battle of Jutland.
The model is entirely scratchbuilt, in the scale 1:300.
I had very good drawings for reference, by John Roberts.
I made the hull plank-on-frame, and covered by fiber-glass. For the wooden deck I used pear-wood cut into
0.8 mm stripes. For superstructures I used plastic and aluminium sheets.
Lucky me to have a daughter with long hair, who provided me with material for the rigging!
The rust on the hull is real rust colected from a piece of iron.
