This is a 54 mm. white metal kit is from Andrea Miniatures Golden West Series and represents a mounted Sioux warrior loading his carbine. The kit is comprised of 28 pieces with 3 main parts: the figure; the base; and the horse.

Packaging

The box is the typical Andrea pack with a color photo of the painted figure on the front. Inside the box, there is another piece of cardboard covering the kit contents. The parts are well protected with foam rubber and small parts are packaged in plastic bags. A full-color assembly and painting guide in English and Spanish is also included.

Kit Contents

The Sioux warrior is a well detailed figure with 22 parts including headdress with buffalo horns and feathers. The figure is armed with a Winchester 1866 carbine and is also equipped with a shield.

Casting is to the high quality maintained by Andrea figures. There is need for extra cleaning and fit is perfect.

The horse comes in five white metal parts comprised of two body halves, a head, tail and ears. Posing and muscle details are very nice for a galloping horse. The casting is so good that very little cleaning and filling are required when assembling body halves and attaching the head to the body.

The kit also includes a 9 x 3 cm. oval base with a nice ground texture which has two holes for mounting the horse.

Conclusion

With careful work, this can be one of the best figures in your display case. Andrea has more mounted Sioux figures to make vignettes and dioramas and I will review another one very soon.
