Iwata HP-C review by: John Hayward | Vendor: Iwata Iwata airbrushes have been described in all kinds of positive ways, recommended by modellers of all calibres and usually carry the kind of price tag that suggests they mean business. After reaching the ceiling of my cheap starter airbrush's ability the next logical step was to invest in a solid all rounder: the Iwata HP-C.

Magnifying Headgear by: Rowan Baylis | Vendor: Enkay An unexpected present proved to be one of the most useful additions to my arsenal of tools in years. If proof were needed of the wonderful community that has grown up around the Kitmaker Network, it arrived in the form of a mysterious padded packet from America this Christmas. Somehow or other I resisted the urge to rip off the wrapping paper before the big day and was rewarded for my patience with a wonderful gift - a set of Enkay Magnifying Headgear!

Date Palms by: Fred Rick Boucher | Vendor: Bandai As 1/48 scale, but suitable for most military scales, whether for aircraft or armor modelers, Bandai's box of model palm trees are well cast and look good on dioramas. Bandai ceased this line of models some twenty-five years ago, but they can be still be found, though often at a high price. Some newer models are more detailed and advanced, some cheaper, but Bandai's date palms are still a fine model.

Micro-Chisel by: Jim Rae | Vendor: Mission Models One of the problems with making horizontal cuts is always controlling what you're doing. Using a chisel blade in a knife-handle is o.k. but these chisel blades are NOT the toughest tools on the market and do tend to blunt easily and can be expensive to replace. I had heard about the Micro-Chisel when it was first released, but only this summer did I decide to take the 'plunge' and invest in one...

Sanders and Polishers by: Rowan Baylis | Vendor: MasterCasters Like many modellers, I've got a drawer full of various files and polishers. They're among the most useful tools I possess - and, no matter how many I have, I'm constantly on the lookout for new variations on the theme in my quest for the right tool for a specific job. With FM's Halifax glaring at me from the workbench - and, with it, mountain of sanding and finishing to climb - the timing could hardly have been better when Jay Laverty of MasterCasters asked if I'd like to try out his new sanding/polishing system!
