Latest update on Trumpeter’s 1/350th Graf Spee

Wednesday, June 10, 2009 - 01:11 PM UTC

By SEAN FORD

As exclusively reported by this reporter on the 17th of May 2009 Trumpeter are releasing their 1/350th German Pocket Battleship (Panzer Schiff) Admiral Graf Spee.

You will recall that we were extremely fortunate to be supplied with early images of the built kitset.

Check out these additional images of the kitset.

We understand that the kit number is 05316 and it will have the following features:

  • 402 pieces;
  • Finished kit length 531 mm;
  • 2 sheets of photoetch;
  • 14 sprues;
  • Upper hull, lower hull, & water line plate;
  • Display stand;
  • Decals for the Admiral Graf Spee in 1939.

As stated earlier this promises to be a superb release.

We also understand that this kit will be released later this year.

We will of course update you as and when more information comes to hand.

Special thanks to Trumpeter for the images.

Oh yes! Now the trouble I am running into. I did not get a Tirpitz. But I do plan to get a Prinz Eugen. So, do I fill my last open 350 ship spot with Graf Spee or another. Then the other problem, actually working in time for building one. C|:-)

I like the latest trend in what Trumpeter is doing. Including the PE...at least for railings and cranes nd such. No longr have to go out and add an additional $40 + and wait 3 additional months for set to get made. Yea Trumpeter. I plan to add this and the Repulse to my stash.

JMartine SAID
Ditto on the PE inclusions..we just need to see about pricing...

The Prinz Eugen was MSRP at $139 as listed at Freetime Hobbies. So I am guessing the Graf Spee will be close to the same. Yes, adding that little bit of PE is great news. C|:-)
