British company SASmodels.com has just launched its first-ever kit for diorama builders - a half-destroyed farmhouse in 1:35 scale. It's called Sniper Villa and aimed at WW2 or Special Forces scenarios.

You'll find pictures and full details at our web site, www.SASmodels.com

The kit has numerous sniping positions for holed-up troops. The exposed back of the villa allows for easy positioning and ‘indoor’ encounters too.

A few things make the kit unusual ...

- Rather than coming ready-finished, or as pieces of resin that slot together quickly, it takes time to build. Maybe 4-6 hours, plus any customisations you make.

- There's a wide variety of materials within the pack. The building’s walls are plastic. But the kit also comes with wooden floor joists and floorboards, a corrugated roof, plastic ladders, rubble, broken timbers, mini barbed wire, lichen, grass scatter and blast-effect wallpapers.

The idea is to give modelers everything they need in the box – apart from paints and basic tools. This makes the kit ideal for newbies. However, we hope that experienced modelers will also find plenty of scope to customise the building themselves, adding textures to walls and placing sandbags and the like.

Sources of inspiration include the popular PC online game Counter-Strike.

Hope you like what you see. They'll be more kits produced later this year.

Some bad news for US and Canada modellers though. Because we’re a small company, we are unable to ship to you because our business insurance would rise by five times if we include your countries. We find this a great shame too. However, as our business grows, we hope to make this possible. If you’re interested in our kits, drop us an email and we’ll keep you posted on developments.

Many thanks for your interest.
