While not strictly model related some news came to our attention concerning 3D printer technology that you may find interesting. Cody Wilson, a 25-year-old law student at the University of Texas has printed and test fired the first working hand gun using the 3D printer technology.
The news of this latest development in 3D printer technology has caused some alarm for authorities in various countries around the world due to the plans for the gun being released on the internet and so out of the control of governments. The firearm has been made using ABS plastic and a 3D printer bought on EBay for $8,000 (USD) was successfully fired at a gun range near Austin, Texas on Saturday.
